What is PATHS Training program?

📋 Overview: An 8-week training program is designed to prepare autistic individuals for careers in the rapidly growing semiconductor industry.

💵 Incentive: Participants who complete all eight modules are eligible to receive up to $500.

💼Internship: Selected students will have intern opportunities with semiconductor companies with stipends of up to $10,000, fully covered by UF.

🎓 Eligibility:

  • ‍Autistic adults in the United States

  • Currently pursuing or holding an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field

Online lecture

ONLINE LECTURE

  • Online lectures delivered through UF Canvas, offering a flexible learning schedule.

  • Learn from nationally recognized scientists.

VR Art Exhibition

VR TRAINING

  • Remote, hands-on training with VR technology

  • All students will receive a VR headset

Nano scale lab at University of Florida

IN-PERSON TRAINING

  • 2-day, in-person training at the University of Florida’s cleanroom and SCAN Lab facilities.

Business Meeting

MENTORSHIP

  • One-on-one mentorship from industry experts at Micron, AMD, Intel, and GlobalFoundries

  • Dedicated support from CARD

Career Pathways After Training

Selected students will have the opportunity to intern with leading national semiconductor foundry and defense technology companies.

Each intern will receive up to $10,000 in stipends, along with travel support.

Program at a Glance

8 Weeks (mid-Jan to mid-March)

Hybrid format

  • Week 1 |   In-person workshop at the University of Florida

  • Weeks 2–7 |  Online lectures with integrated VR training and one-on-one industry mentorship via Zoom.

  • Week 8 |  Synchronous online employment bootcamp, hosted by industry experts and staff from the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities at the University of Florida.

  • Autistic students residing in the United States

  • Interest in semiconductor fabrication

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant STEM field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Computer Science)

  • For internships: U.S. citizenship is required (citizenship is not required for training but is necessary for internships with partnering industry companies)
